A Message from Vern Babilon

TOPCU CEO

For nearly 90 years, TOPCU has served Tucson with financial stability and access to opportunity. By merging with ICCU, we’ll extend that mission even further – creating new opportunities for both members and staff.

FAQs:

Still Have Questions? We’ve Got Answers!

Will I see the same staff after the merger?

Members can look forward to being served by the same local staff they know and trust today. ICCU’s goal is to retain all team members and provide career growth opportunities within the organization.

What’s so great about ICCU?

ICCU has grown to 650,000 members with $11 billion in assets by putting people first. They’re ranked as one of the top credit unions in the U.S.

How does this merger impact the Tucson community?

TOPCU has long served both the financial and philanthropic needs of our communities, and if the merger is approved, ICCU is excited to engage with Tucson nonprofits in an even bigger way. Serving the community is at the core of ICCU’s mission, and ICCU is committed to significantly increasing its investment in Tucson. Over the next five years, ICCU has pledged $1 million to substantially enhance the credit union’s support of local nonprofits and community initiatives.

Why should I vote in favor of the merger between TOPCU and ICCU?

The TOPCU Board of Directors chose ICCU because they believe ICCU is the best fit for the needs of the members, the credit union, team members, and the community. TOPCU and ICCU have a shared culture of serving our members and our communities. By merging the two credit unions, we will reinforce our mission, maintain local staff, increase community investment, and bring a broader range of financial products and services to our members.

How does this merger impact TOPCU members?

ICCU is committed to making this transition as seamless as possible for TOPCU members. As a result of the merger, TOPCU members will have access to more financial products, services, and technologies, including VideoChat, Tap & Go Visa cards, CardControl, and much more. ICCU plans to expand its branch network to increase convenience for local members. Further plans will be explored as we progress through the merger.

Will the TOPCU branch locations remain open?

Yes, the existing TOPCU branches will remain open. ICCU will look for additional branch opportunities in the future.

When is the merger expected to be complete?

If approved, the legal merger will be finalized in February 2025. After the legal merger is official, we will work on providing a seamless transition of TOPCU members’ financial services and complete the operational merger in September 2025.

What will happen to my existing membership and account(s) at TOPCU?

You will continue to use your TOPCU accounts, including checks, debit cards, credit cards, online banking, and mobile banking, just like you do now. Automatic deposits and withdrawals will keep working as they currently do.

The process of preparing both credit unions’ systems for the transition to ICCU is complex and will take several months. As we get closer to converting TOPCU accounts to ICCU, you will receive advance notification regarding the timing and details of the transition.  Eventually, your TOPCU accounts will be switched to ICCU accounts, and all your deposit and loan balances will be transferred to the new ICCU accounts. At that time, you will also receive new ICCU debit cards, credit cards, and checks, if applicable.  Further information will be forthcoming as we progress throughout the merger process.
